What’s the Main Difference Between CBD and THC?

CBD has been gaining popularity in the last ten years. Last year 33% of Americans use or tried CDB. That number is projected to rise as people turn to the homoeopathic benefits that Cannabidiol has to offer.

CBD treats a range of health concerns from anxiety to the symptoms of cancer. Because there are many different types of CBD that differ in form and concentration, it can be hard to decide which CBD is best for you and your needs.

Here we cover all you need to know about the difference between CBD and THC, what CBD is, how CBD is used, and how the body can benefit from CBD.

What is CBD?

CBD or Cannabidiol is a part of the Cannabis sativa plant also known as the marijuana plant. This is the same plant that THC comes from.

However, THC can be found in the highest concentrations within the flower of the Cannabis sativa plant, while CBD can get extracted from any part of the plant, including hemp.

Because CBD and THC are found within all parts of the plant at different concentrations, there will always be a tiny percentage of THC found within hemp-extracted CBD, but the concentration is too low to actually impact your senses.

This means that with some productions of CBD there may be higher or lower concentrations of THC, which can give results you might not be expecting.

When looking for a CBD product that will benefit you the most you should look for a full-spectrum CBD oil, which has all of the beneficial properties it naturally contains.

The Difference Between CBD and THC

Unlike THC, CBD doesn’t give you a euphoric high. Despite having the same chemical composition, CBD acts upon the brain’s cannabinoid receptors in a much different way than THC.

This results in CBD having a calming effect on the brain and body.

THC on the other hand can help many of the same symptoms that people treat with CBD, however, THC also comes with a range of side effects that aren’t seen with CBD.

These symptoms include tachycardia, dizziness, anxiety, and memory loss. While CBD can cause side effects as well, they are often much milder than THC.

It is because of these mild side effects that people often turn to CBD instead of THC to treat their symptoms.

Ways CBD is Beneficial

CBD has a broad range of benefits. There have been promising studies using CBD in the potential treatment of cancer

One drug, Epidiolex, that uses CBD to treat rare forms of seizures got approval by the FDA for use. CBD can also help treat:

  • anxiety
  • nausea
  • depression
  • migraines
  • pain

Besides treating various symptoms, CBD and hemp oil have anti-inflammatory properties that can help with skin problems like, eczema, dry skin, and redness.

The antioxidants found within CBD can also have potentially anti-aging benefits when used regularly.

Is CBD Right For You?

Although there is a stark difference between CBD and THC, both can be used to help people ease the pain and symptoms that come from various illnesses and disorders.

For people who are sensitive to psychoactive substances, CBD can often be a good choice because it won’t disrupt your mental acuity.

Remember when looking for a quality CBD product, check the THC concentrations and make sure that you’re getting the best CBD possible.
